About the session

This presentation outlines the details on ongoing technology trials carried out by XCD Communication Ltd. on behalf of Transport for London. The purpose of the trial was to investigate the possible combination of GPS based vehicle location technology and fixed wireless access communications in relation to their potential use in road user charging or distance-based charging. The trial examined the key wireless performance characteristics, a possible system architecture as well as the definition of a business use case. The presentation outlines the advantages of adoptioning WiMax as a preferred wireless access technology.
