About the session

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks successfully integrated a 1MW, 3MWh battery energy storage system with an Active Network Management (ANM) system. To date, the system has discharged 1.45GWh to the network. This presentation will provide detailed first-hand operational experience of this, and demonstrate how Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) can contribute to operating a distribution system with a high penetration of renewable generation. We will demonstrate through the use of real time data ways in which the battery has helped to alleviate constraints on the Shetland network.
