About the session

"Connected television will render traditional channels irrelevant": teams speaking for and against this contentious motion debate whether the emergence of video devices and displays connected directly to data networks will make traditional television channels redundant and obsolete. It's a critical question for everyone connected to the television viewing experience. The arguments for each side are presented as speakers representing traditional broadcasters and new entrants discuss the future of television. Featuring some of the latest research into audience behaviours and consumption patterns, this panel provides a unique debating format featuring some of the most powerful and persuasive thought-leaders in the industry. On the one hand, there are those who believe that the Internet will disrupt television fundamentally, while on the other, traditional television continues to dominate most people's viewing. Who is right? At the end of the session, the audience gets to decide.
