About the session

The broadcasting infrastructure provided within production centres is placing greater reliance on the use of standard IT structured cabling to provide a cost effective and flexible method of delivering broadband data connectivity throughout the building. However, the provision of live broadcast and production facilities poses particular problems when attempting to distribute those in a similar way. This is primarily due to the requirements of these high bandwidth streams to pass between internal areas with extremely low latency and stability if such structures are to be considered suitable when replacing more traditional methods of connecting live audio and video signals. We explore the development of a suitable open standard network structure to meet the needs of live broadcast production systems
