The surge in rapid EV charging demand requires increases in electrical capacity at motorway service stations. In response, 'Take Charge' aimed to expedite substation installation, cut costs, and reduce footprint. Traditionally, this process lasted months, and would occupy over 100 car parking spaces. The project's collaboration with GHD and Brush led to the design and installation of a scalable modular primary substation, notably reducing expenses for connecting large electrical demands. This presentation will share key project insights and our strategy for implementing this innovation.
