  • 12:00
  • Duration: 14 mins
  • Publication date: 10 Oct 2022
  • Location: Turing Lecture Theatre, Savoy Place, London, United Kingdom
  • Part of event RPG 2022

About the session

• Use of low-grade geothermal heat could displace natural gas from the UK’s heating systems and hence 30% of the nation’s GHG emissions - projects are already delivering

• Use of high-grade heat for power generation is on its way in the UK

• Use of waste heat from co-produced and unwanted water in the UK offshore sector could significantly decarbonise operations and help maximise economic recovery

• The geothermal and geokinetic resource of the remaining UK’s offshore gas sector could be used for zero carbon power generation to supplement power from offshore wind
