About the session

In order to select a proper reliability analysis method for engineering problem, this presentation describes a comparative study on different algorithms for reliability analysis. For the accuracy improvement of the sensitivity-assisted Monte Carlo simulation (SA-MCS) method, the second-order derivatives are incorporated with the finite element method. Finally, the performances of the SA-MCS method and the conventional reliability index approach (the performance measure approach) are investigated through applications to an analytic example and a superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) system.
