In the 1990s, well-recognised institutes such as the University of Delft, the Town Engineering Bureau of Rotterdam and the consultancy firm Twijnstra Gudde a.o. developed a standard method for risk assessment and risk management for hardware projects. This method, called Risman, is now the standard in this area in the Netherlands. However there was no user-friendly software that supported working with this method. After a development period of over four years, including intense testing (in over 60 workshops), the speaker's bureau has developed and launched an innovative program that supports Risman, called RisLog. It contains numerous features that enable project managers and project controllers to assess, monitor and value risks. RisLog is now running with 10 of their major clients who are critically looking for further improvements. Version 1.0 was launched in March 2011 and has resulted in happy users. For researchers, the data that is captured by RisLog from various clients and their projects allows project risk to be benchmarked and monitored at a meta-level.
