About the session
In this presentation, the modelling techniques for the real-time simulation of hybrid microgrids are first presented. The simulation model of a synchronous generator is explained, followed by the model of an inverter-based distributed generator. With these models, hybrid microgrids are formed and their stability is evaluated by examining three important factors: (1) the black start of the microgrid, including the synchronization process of the grid-forming inverters, (2) the transient load sharing upon step-load changes and its correlation with the rated power of the generators, and (3) the problem of the different time constants of synchronous generators and inverter-based generators.
