R-TIS: Realtime Travel Information System for Multi-Modal Realtime Information for Southampton Airport, Olympic Park and London Transport Museum

This presentation focuses on the provision of real-time travel information to transport network users and discusses the processes in establishing agreements with transport providers to gain reliable access to their real time data for use on real-time travel information system (R-TIS) displays. The speaker then moves on to discuss the software and hardware architecture used to implement the system and why we chose this route. He discusses the differing presentation styles of displaying the real time information depending on its environment and the behaviour of the people interacting with the displays. Finally, the speaker reports on feedback received from the users of the systems and how wider adoption of the technology could lead to increased public transport uptake.
