About the session

As we rely more and more heavily on satellites for communications, navigation and observation, the requirement to ensure that space based systems are both secure and resilient becomes more urgent. Space based systems also have a growing role in CNI resilience.

    David Last

    Resilient Navigation and Timing Foundation, Consulant

    Professor David Last acts as a Strategic Advisor to the General Lighthouse Authorities of the United Kingdom and Ireland. He is a Past-President and Gold Medal holder of the Royal Institute of Navigation and a Fellow of the US Institute of Navigation. Following a career in research, he is now a Consultant on radio-navigation and communications systems including critical infrastructure to companies, governmental and international organisations. He is also active as a forensic Expert Witness, focussing on GPS-related cases for law enforcement agencies and lawyers. A Professor Emeritus in the University of Bangor, Wales, he has published some 500 technical and policy papers on navigation systems and forensic matters. He is an instrument-rated aircraft pilot and practising navigator.
