Abstract
This presentation from Steve Holliday, the Chief Executive from National Grid will provide a high level discussion which examines the necessary framework required to ensure we meet the triad challenges of climate change, security of supply and affordable energy. New technology such as smart grids, plug-in electric hybrid vehicles, carbon capture and storage, offshore/onshore wind, nuclear and more will be required to meet the challenges. In order to optimally plan the future, a master plan is required. It must not only clearly explain the role of key stakeholders such as government, customers, utilities, and manufacturers, but must also describe the major milestones required to meet targets by 2050. In this one hour lecture, Steve will provide his views on producing the roadmap which navigates through the obstacles facing the energy industry, tackling the challenges and ensuring a seamless adoption and implementation of new technology.
