About the session

This presentation deals with the characteristics of an interior permanent magnet synchronous generator (IPMSG), which has been developed for offshore wind turbines with variable operation conditions. Performance analyses, such as characteristics of loss and efficiency, torque ripple, back-EMF, demagnetization of the permanent magnets,etc., and the design of an IPMSG with slitting and skewing which reduce the total harmonic distortion (THD) are implemented based on 3D non-linear finite element analysis (FEA). In particular, this presentation describes the design of a 5.6-MW IPMSG by taking account of the mechanical stress analysis.
