Dr. R A Machelkar

Council for Scientific & Industrial Research, Former Director General

Dr. R.A. Mashelkar, by a wide concurrence, is believed to be a different and the welcome kind of scientist to be heading the Council of Scientific And Industrial Research [CSIR] at a time when Indians are beginning to believe they can 'make it'. Dr Mashelkar, in stewarding CSIR , has focused on bringing the products of the labs to the markets, protecting India's intellectual property rights and making scientists aware of the need to be self-supporting, instead of relying on government handouts.
