Multi-standard RF is a real way forward to managing cost, size and complexity issues. It requires a deep understanding of system engineering and silicon design expertise to get a balance. RF IC implementations have many practical hurdles and many technical solution choices. The building blocks are well understood and performance is attainable in affordable CMOS.
