  • Part of event IET Seminar on New Technology Application in Manufacturing and Supply Chain

About the session

The automation and packaging machinery space is undergoing fundamental change with manufacturing businesses demanding greater levels of flexibility, improved machine integration, lower capital and ownership costs and shorter delivery times from OEM suppliers. This presentation offers an overview of recent technological developments in packaging machinery and addresses the fundamental question about how to balance end-user integration and cost of ownership issues with OEM supply and development costs for the packaging lines of tomorrow. The ability to modularise machinery for quick changeovers and accommodate tomorrow's flexibility, traceability and shortened supply chain requirements will be key for OEMs to compete and derive industry leading ROIs for manufacturing clients. In addition to addressing the specific market drivers, this presentation seeks to ascertain what keys to success lie in current standards and in particular which practical solutions can be derived from the OMAC Make2Pack initiative, the ISA/ANSI S88.05 or it's equivalent the IEC 61512.
