About the session

Active traffic management (ATM) schemes (now called managed motorways) aim to address congestion and improve journey time reliability (JTR) by utilising a set of advanced intelligent transport systems applications to make as much use of the available capacity as possible. This presentation discusss the results obtained from the impact assessment of hard shoulder running up to 60 mph on traffic conditions over the M42-ATM section. The analysis does not cover safety data as at least three years' worth of safety data is required for a valid safety analysis.
