Abstract
As part of our healthcare episode vaccinologist Prof Sarah Gilbert joined us to talk about her route in to vaccinology as well as her journey throughout the COVID19 Pandemic. In the interview she talks about how the collaboration between industry, government and academia has helped with the successful role out of the COVID19 vaccines. Prof. Sarah Gilbert has become somewhat of a household name having been an essential part of the team that developed the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. If she had gone with her instincts, the latest coronavirus vaccine to show highly promising results might never have been. She has been making and testing vaccines designed to induce T cell responses for over ten years, chiefly using antigens from malaria and influenza.
