Abstract
Sam Woodward, a lighting expert, explains that inrush current can lead to the premature failure of the control devices used to switch the LED circuit. Sam explains that many dimmers are built to withstand inrush current, however they need to be rated to the specific driver circuits. It is really important that manufacturer’s data and compatibility are checked, as different LEDs have different driver circuits, so doing this can prevent inrush current from being a problem.
