The development of Drives has changed a lot over the last two decades. Dr. Ing Sigurd Øvrebo has worked in different sectors over the last 25 years where the Drives has been a kay enabler for the applications and for the scalability of the business. In Rolls-Royce Marine the electrification drove the solutions to be more secure and cost effective. The later 10 years Rolls-Royce has been exploring solutions for aviation where the demands are very different. The drives needs to be even more secure, but the weight is a new focus. In this session he will reflect over the developments and solutions in the different applications and give a perspective on the importance of the deep capability in Power Electronics and Drives.
