About the session
Electromagnetic modelling has a tremendous impact in societies as it provides efficient and reliable tools for the design of radiofrequency (RF) and microwave devices for applications of wireless communication, remote sensing and navigation systems. With the advent of nanotechnologies, the possibility to explore the interactions of microwaves with much smaller objects (micrometres to nanometres) is emerging as an exciting field of research and technology development. This presentation starts with an introduction to recent development in high-frequency electronics, in particular the rise of meta-material antennas and graphene devices from novel concepts inspired by physicists. The speaker then focuses on the modelling challenges of relevant devices in the field of nanoscale microwave technologies and related emerging applications. Measurement results are presented to validate some proposed modelling tools. The speaker concludes with a discussion on the multidisciplinary roadmap of electromagnetic modelling for future high-frequency electronics.
