The transport network, from rail, road, air and sea, is at threat from cyber attacks, terrorist threats and natural hazards and its protection and resilience is key for communities and countries to maintain their economies.

    Lt. Christopher Smith

    Lieutenant Christopher Smith has been an officer with the New Orleans Harbor Police Department for over 10 years. During his tenure with HPD, Lt. Smith was appointed Security Officer for the Port in 2019. And in 2020, he was appointed the Facility Security Officer. Lt. Smith is also the department's liaison to other municipal, state, and federal agencies. He is a member of the Area Maritime Security Committee (AMSC) and serves on the New Orleans Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (NOSHEP) Securing the Cities Program on the Training and Exercise and Equipment Committees. The program aims to enhance the region's capability to detect, identify, and interdict nuclear and other radioactive materials of regulatory control. Lt. Smith is a New Orleans native. He attended Jesuit High School and studied History at the University of New Orleans.
