About the session

Jay Srage, Lecturer, Digital Leadership, Michigan Ross
The essential role of education in creating a sustainable digital transformation.

Digital transformation is creating an industrial disruption point in the evolution of global economies. One use case is the telecom sector where network operators have a unique chance to drive cross-the-board industrial change. This opportunity requires new mindsets and skillsets to sustain that successful transformation. Educational institutions are also transforming to create that environment for sustainability.

Professor Duncan McFarlane, Head of the Distributed Information & Automation Laboratory, Institute for Manufacturing Shaping a digital future for all.

Duncan will provide an update on research being conducted at the University of Cambridge that aims to help companies of all sizes take advantage of current and emerging digital technologies. Duncan’s research team is involved in national projects shaping the future of enabling technologies including the industrial internet of things (IIOT), 5G networks and the introduction of low-cost digital solutions - particularly for SMEs.
