About the session

Proposals for ultrawideband (UWB) regulations in the EU and Japan identify detect and avoid (DAA) as a feasible interference mitigation technique for co-existence with licensed services operating in frequencies below 5 GHz. This presentation discusses the regulatory background to this requirement, the impending difficulty in setting parameters, and complexity involved in the practical implementation of such techniques while maintaining commercial viability for UWB radios. The implementation details discussed in this presentation are specific to the WiMedia Multi-Band Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MBOFDM) flavour of UWB.
