  • Location: IETTV_Room, IETTV_Venue, Brighton, United Kingdom
  • Part of event IET Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2010)

About the session

The operating environment for small synchronous generators (SG) of less than 5 MW is becoming increasingly demanding. This presentation discusses present difficulties and highlights some of the future challenges for small Embedded Synchronous Generators. The presentation outlines reasons why generator manufacturers need to enhance their design capability to help develop reliable products. A new design tool known as CyberGen is discussed as part of a wider strategy for capability enhancement. A case study is provided and calculations compared with measurement.
