About the session

Case studies and academic research are introduced to illustrate the challenges and opportunities beyond technical data capture and analysis. The speaker discusses: big data as a commodity and a currency, and its implications for the energy sector; avoiding unintended consequences of an arms-length "command and control" approach to the use of big data; counting electrons or delivering services?; using data to drive the customer/supplier relationship; and beyond automation - extracting the maximum value from data by moving from analytics to insight.
