- Part of event 3rd Renewable Power Generation Conference (RPG) 2014
About the session
CO2 emission targets, finite fossil fuels, energy self-sufficiency and localised generation are all contributing to a huge rise in the use of renewable power around the globe. Whilst generous government incentives have encouraged that growth, there has been increasing criticism of the relative cost and questions surrounding the efficacy of intermittent renewable energy. Academic and industry experts are working hard to maximise generation from offshore wind, photovoltaic, marine and other sources, and at the same time addressing the impact that renewables have on electrical power conversion. This conference makes its contribution by showcasing ground-breaking technical advances that will help to prove the case for renewable generation and integration to the grid being a cost-effective alternative to expensive fuel imports, whilst continuing to help in the fight against climate change.
