The application and operation of insulation monitors (IMD) and earth fault location systems (EDS) in unearthed (floating - IT) rail signal power systems. This talk explains the principles of operation of IMD and EDS systems and how their installation enables compliance with BS7671. Plus the further opportunities which IMD/EDS provide with predictive maintenance insulation resistance data and improved availability of power systems
