    Felipe A Rubio Castillo, currently leads the Aeronautical R&D organisation development for CIDESI.During the past 28 years, he has been primarily focused on the R&D of Manufacturing, special purpose devices, automation, industrial electronics and consultancy. He served as the CEO of CIDESI, a brief stint as a Deputy Director for CONACYT and previously as the CEO of CIATEQ.The first 12 years of his career were spent as a production plant manager.Rubio holds a BEng in Electro Mechanical Engineering, an MSc and PhD in Management with emphasis in R&D organisations.Keynote speech: Reshoring or Building Advanced Manufacturing Capabilities, Mexico’s CaseThis lecture offers a general overview of Mexico’s manufacturing capabilities, especially the auto parts and the car manufacturing evolution.Mexico moved from a closed economy to a wide open market in a short time by establishing a set of incentive polices, specific education efforts and technological innovations in manufacturing processes and building a closer relationship between government, industry and academia.The Aeronautical Sector in the State of Querétaro is an example of the new culture and capabilities that the country is improving to become a significant player in the Advance Manufacturing Industry

    In his role as Pro-Vice-Chancellor - Regional & International, he leads the key account management of Cranfield's Strategic Business Partners and stakeholder government departments and agencies, and the development of Cranfield Technology Park / Airpark and Executive Airport. His expertise is frequently called upon to assist commercial clients, professional institutions around the world and UK government agencies, ranging from DBIS & The Treasury to EPSRC and MoD. He was a member of the UK Government's Lambert Working Group on the Commercialisation of University IP and contributed to The National Centre for Universities and Business report “Great Expectations – Top Manufacturing and Engineering Talent 2030”. He has also given evidence on postgraduate education to the Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology.In the business arena he is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, a member of the regional council of the CBI, non-executive Chairman of Cranfield Management Development Limited, (a £17M turnover executive education business), and Cranfield Engineering Innovations Limited and a non-executive director of Cranfield Ventures Ltd. Until recently he was also a non-executive director of QA Business School Ltd and Sudbury House Hotel Ltd.He appears as an expert for the media, on radio and television and has also written for broadsheet newspapers and magazines, including New Scientist and the Financial Times.
