This presentation describes the Oxford Acute Severity of Illness Score, which is a new "severity of illness" scale using a subset of APACHE data elements that is simpler but which nevertheless shows comparable predictive accuracy to those scales that have been previously established in the literature. This PhD research is the winner of the William James Award.
