About the session

There is much interest within the communications sector regarding wideband and multi-band antennas, as communication terminals need to handle an increasing number of bands, such as GSM, DCS, PCS, and 3rd generation cellular, as well as GPS, Bluetooth, WLAN and Hiperlan. There are now also requirements for ultra-wideband systems for use in future high-capacity radio and indoor navigation systems. Likewise, in the defence sector, there is a continuing need for wideband and multi-band antennas to support applications such as multi-function radar and reconfigurable aperture antennas for ESM, ECM and communication applications. Antennas remain crucial to many new wireless systems that form the core of future capabilities. This IET Webinar gives a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art developments in this important technology. Key themes include: the design of multi-band antennas for personal mobile systems; modelling and measurement of wideband and multi-band antennas; solving system problems such as interaction with the phone handset and the human body, and adaptive tuning of antennas; multi-band MIMO antennas; recent developments in reconfigurable wideband and multi-band antennas; and structurally integrated wideband phased arrays.
