About the session

This session will explore the potential for smart grids, and the extent to which the smart meter rollout paves the way. It will ask what smart networks can achieve and what a fully connected society will look like. Speakers will chart the road map for the smart meter roll out, explore the role of smart meters in enabling smart grids, and outline the challenges and opportunities of the new technologies.

    ENA, Business Lead smart meter programme

    Paul is Business Lead at Energy Networks Association for the Smart Meter Programme having joined after 34 years of experience in the UK’s electricity distribution industry. Paul has previously held engineering and managerial positions in London Electricity, EDF Energy and UK Power Networks in roles such as electricity connections manager, electricity system outage manager, multi-utility services contract manager and a member of a DNO price control team. Currently Paul leads for ENA on all matters related to the GB Smart Meter Programme, specifically where it relates to gas and electricity distribution networks. Paul also takes responsibility for various developments in distribution network operational policy.
