From the work he has undertaken and his key role in extending the ITGI (IT Governance Institute) CobiT framework to include value creation from IT, the speaker has distilled out a number of key factors that are critical to delivering business success through IT. He first defines what business success means to both for-profit and not-for-profit organisations. He then looks at what differentiates those who derive most value from those who secure little or none. This is not dependent on how much they spend; it is all about how they make and implement business decisions. He also challenges the methods used by many organisations to make these critical decisions and shows how they need to be updated to handle the unique nature of IT.
