IEC 61508 is the international standard for functional safety of electronical safety-related systems, and is applicable worldwide in automation technology and automotive systems. The requirements of the IEC 61508 are very complex, and simplifications are helpful to accelerate development, decrease time-to-market and reduce costs. Using MISRA C is a practicable way to pass the requirements for a coding standard according IEC 61508.
