About the session

The scholarly communications ecosystem: understanding and responding to evolving expectations.

The formats and forums for sharing research and scholarship continue to evolve.  Are academics revelling in more choice, or finding themselves bewildered by new complexities?  Should we expect further change as the demographic profile of the workplace begins to shift towards digital natives?  How are libraries and publishers adapting their content and services to reflect changing behaviours and expectations?  What new initiatives are helping to meet researchers’ needs – or threatening others’ role in doing so?  Our expert speakers will attempt to answer these questions and hopefully help to shape both strategy and practice for UKSG members and delegates of all types. The day will include lots of time for networking, too.

    Kudos

I’m a geek marketer, and finding the scholarly communications sector was like coming home. I have an insatiable interest in new techniques and technologies, about which I speak and write regularly. I’m passionate about breaking down barriers and improving relationships in the information supply chain, and as such am an enthusiastic volunteer for the industry association UKSG. I am also an Associate Editor of Learned Publishing. I hold a BA from the University of Bristol and a postgraduate MDip in Marketing. I joined TBI in 2008 from Publishing Technology, where I was head of group marketing; previous roles include electronic publishing and account management at CatchWord, and linking and product management at Ingenta.
