About the session

The UKSG Annual Conference and Exhibition will be held at the Telford International Centre and is a major event in the scholarly communications calendar which attracts over 900 delegates each year from around the world - librarians, publishers, content providers, consultants and intermediaries. The conference combines high-quality plenary presentations, lightning talks and breakout sessions with entertaining social events and a major trade exhibition.

    Dr Jessica Gardner is the UniversityLibrarian and Director of LibraryServices at the University ofCambridge. She joined Cambridgein April 2017, moving from the roleof Director of Library Services atthe University of Bristol. Between2001 and 2013, Jessica workedat the University of Exeter, as theHead of Heritage Collections andlater as Head of Library and CultureServices. She started her library career at the University of Leeds,where she worked and studied for ten years. She completed her PhDin the field of twentieth-century book history in 2001, and specialisedin her early to mid-career in literary archives and special collections.Jessica is a member of the Research Libraries UK (RLUK) Board, ofwhich she will become Vice-Chair in April.

    University of Surrey

    Dr Charlotte Mathieson is aLecturer in Nineteenth-CenturyEnglish Literature at the Universityof Surrey’s School of Literature andLanguages. She gained her PhD inEnglish literature at the Universityof Warwick in 2011, where shesubsequently worked as a ResearchFellow at the Institute of AdvancedStudy, and then as a TeachingFellow at Newcastle University.During this time she has developed a substantial portfolio of worksupporting early career researchers, with particular interest in theResearch Excellence Framework and the publishing environment.
