About the session

The Rt. Hon. David Willetts MP, Minister of State for Universities and Science invites you to the official launch of PAS 754 and associated education and training materials. The Trustworthy Software Initiative (TSI), which is funded by the UK Government as part of the National Cyber Security Programme and sponsored by BIS and CPNI, seeks to improve the trustworthiness of software. The Government recognises that the root cause of many cyber security problems is untrustworthy software, which causes vulnerabilities related to safety, reliability, availability, resilience and security. The TSI has been working with industry and academia to develop a publicly available specification (PAS) published by BSI. PAS 754 ('Software Trustworthiness - Governance and Management - Specification') is based on internationally recognised good practice for software engineering and draws together a framework that supports the delivery of trustworthy software. The TSI has also developed education and training materials for use by colleges and universities to promote the concept of software trustworthiness to their students. Universities can use these learning materials free of charge to deliver learning outcomes on information security for students studying software engineering and other computing-related degrees. In future, learning outcomes on cyber-security will become part of the accreditation requirements for degrees accredited by the IET and BCS.
