Mike Burrows received his PhD from Cambridge University, where he was supervised by David Wheeler. He then joined the research staff at Digital's Systems Research Center (SRC), where he worked on a variety of projects in the areas of security, operating systems, program analysis, and information retrieval. Mike was also one of primary architects of AltaVista, the first widely adopted search engine for the Web, while at SRC. He currently works at Google, where he continues to work on issues related to web search.
