Abstract
Software tools workshopThe EEC SIG is pleased to announce a free software tools workshop for the Energy Efficient Computing community to explore the current and future developments in this area.Details of workshop projects;EmbecosmThe workshop will provide hands-on experience of using the energy measurement board developed for the MAGEEC project:http://groundelectronics.com/collections/frontpage/products/mageec-energy-measurement-kitThis board is capable of sampling voltage and current 6 million times per second to an accuracy of better than 1 percent. The team will bring along Arduino's and STM ARM Discovery Boards as targets, although attendees are welcome to bring their own hardware along as well. The workshop will take participants through setting up and using the energy measurement board. Participants will then be able to experiment with modifying software to reduce energy consumption. For advanced participants, we will be bringing along a Crazyflie 2.0 quadcopter, modified to have its energy measured:http://www.bitcraze.se/crazyflie-2/Participants (or teams) will be invited to experiment with the open source software controlling this quadcopter, to find the most efficient way to fly it. This is not for the faint hearted - expect to spend most of the day learning in gory detail how to program a quadcopterefficiently.EEC SIG will be giving away a Crazyflie to the most successful participant/team.Hartree Centre: Tau Performance SystemMike Ashworth the Application Engineering Group leader at Daresbury will be giving a walk through and demonstration of the Tuning And Analysis (TAU) tools how we are using them as part of our Energy Efficient computing research.
