About the session

This presentation gives an introduction to the British School of Brussels and then discusses: recent student attitudes from the UK; science, technology and computing examination outcomes, 2002-2006; lessons from the data; and how to inspire bright students to follow higher education courses in science and technology.

    Roland Chant, Principal, The British School of Brussels. Organised by the European Institute for Industrial Leadership (EIIL), the conference will be chaired by Patrick Thomas, chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer MaterialScience AG and chairman of the EIIL's Industrial Advisory Board. Speakers will include an EU representative who will share his views on the conference theme in the light of the EU's policies and actions to improve Europe's competitiveness, in particular the Lisbon Agenda. Other speakers will be the head teacher of an international school, a head of a university engineering faculty, representatives of the Brussels regional government and an engineering professional association, and senior executives from a major energy multi-national and a technology company.
