Abstract

The IET, IMechE, ICE, and IChemE are proud to announce 2019's Joint Institution Lecture titled "The Climate Reality Project" with guest speaker Bill McKinley, Strategic Solutions Business Lead from Keysight Technologies, and part of the growing Climate Reality Leadership team.

With glaciers melting, seas rising, and 16 of the 17 hottest years on record coming this century, we know humanity must change and act boldly to solve the climate crisis.

The good news is that we know we can. Solar, wind, and other renewable solutions are becoming more affordable every year. And all around the world, countries from China to Chile are seizing the moment, working to cut emissions under the Paris Agreement and create a safe, sustainable, and prosperous future powered by clean energy.

At Climate Reality, our job is to ensure we will. Led by former Vice President Gore and CEO Ken Berlin, we use twenty-first century digital tools and activist trainings to share the truth about the crisis and empower everyday people to become powerful forces for change.

The result: nearly 15,200 Climate Reality Leader activists spreading climate hope and confronting denial everywhere from street corners to the White House. A growing movement of millions speaking truth to power and fighting for climate solutions at every level. A clean energy revolution accelerating planet-wide.

The road forward is clear for Engineers of all disciplines. The power to change is in our hands. A sustainable future is in reach. Join us, and together, we’ll make it a reality

    Billy McKinley

Keysight Technologies, Strategic Solutions Business Lead -

Bill McKinley has spent 30 years in the technology sector starting with Hewlett-Packard, then at Agilent Technologies and most recently with Keysight Technologies after the various company splits. He has travelled extensively all over the world and spent several years working abroad gaining valuable international experience.Bill is currently Strategic Solutions Business Lead for Keysight’s Automotive/Connected Car business segment focusing on Intelligent Transport Systems and Autonomous Vehicle Technologies.Bill has been concerned about Climate Change and the legacy being left for future generations for some time but after doing some recent research into the topic he felt the need to do something about the situation and to try and make a difference where possible. Fortunately, Bill’s work is helping to usher in the era of Smart Mobility and Connected Transportation which has the potential to bring significant improvements to the Transportation Sector enabling the sector to reduce its impact on Climate Change… but there is always more that could be done.Bill recently attended a 3 day ‘Climate Reality Leadership Program’ in Berlin run by former US Vice President Al Gore where he was trained on the latest understandings we have on climate science and an overview of some of the initiatives that are under way to try and deal with the problem of global warming and its consequences. Bill has undertaken to educate anyone who is willing to listen to the knowledge he has gained in order to shape public opinion and influence policy wherever possible.
