Abstract

Interested in the business case for Digital Twins? We spoke to experts at Digital Construction Week in 2019 to find out what the Digital Twin case would look like.

They highlighted the current difficulties of convincing people and how to mitigate these challenges. Breaking things down to steps, addressing concerns and being clear on the outcomes and opportunities that can arise from Digital Twins is key.

    Anne has been working in the industry for 25 years, delivering information to where it is needed for informed and intelligent decision making. She is Director and Fellow at Atkins for BIM Strategy and Implementation. She has been with Atkins for 19 years, where she first introduced GIS to the business, and has acted as advisor to a wide range of projects, ranging from contaminated land to large data management projects. Having served two years as Chair for AGI, Anne is now Vice Chair of Building Smart UK and Chair of ICE’s BIM Action Group and BIM4Infrastructure UK. She has been part of the UK Government BIM Task Group helping the departments to implement BIM, in particular HA and EA, and has just graduated as prizewinner for her MSc in Coaching and Behavioural Change at Henley Business School, where her research focused on enabling sustained collaborative working across the infrastructure industry.

    Dr Bethan Morgan brings extensive experience working in the AEC, combined with a well-established academic track record. Currently working in UCL, she is researching variety of aspects of digitalization in the built environment. Together with colleagues at UCL, she is developing a short course that draws on the expertise specifically for executives working in the industry. This course draws on the substantial expertise of industry experts in a range of subjects. Beth undertakes teaching regularly at executive level and uses techniques developed for general management education to do so.

After over 20 years specialising in Strategy, Innovation and Knowledge Management, Rosemary has now established I&K, The Innovation and Knowledge Agency. The Agency supports organisations to develop their approach to Innovation, focusing on Business Models, Culture and Process and guides them on how to recognise and leverage their Knowledge assets.Rosemary acts as a Board Advisor for both the Managing Partners' Forum and Alternative Events around Innovation, Knowledge and Technology.
