About the session
Television has now fully embraced the potential of modern information technology. In this year’s JLB lecture our speakers will look at how this has influenced the content chain from concept to screen. As more and more content becomes available, and can potentially be viewed on a variety of devices in a range of resolutions and across a diverse set of locations, content management has become an even more important and complex part of the whole chain.
In the distribution and consumption areas there is an ongoing struggle with those who would pirate the content, and this has resulted in rights management technology becoming a crucial element, even for what is nominally considered “free to air” content, particularly if it is HD or Ultra HD. In this content rich environment it can also become difficult for viewers to find the content that they would like to watch from among the huge amount available, and advanced user interfaces, programme guides and recommendation engines are becoming an essential element in delivering an enjoyable viewing experience.
