Abstract

The space industry in Scotland is a leading area for innovation, producing high tech, high value jobs which will assist Scotland globally.

The development of the spaceport (which facilitates vertical launches) is an important new facility which will push forward the development of the space industry in Scotland.

In today’s connected world with built-in global positioning, space is increasingly important. Earth observation, quantum encryption, weather forecasting and shipping all rely on satellite technology.

We spoke to experts to find out what satellites are used for, the role UK plays in the European Space Agency and the development of a spaceport in Scotland.
