About the session

The IET joined manufacturers, engineers and industry leaders for a series of events held at Liverpool Exhibition Centre from 13 - 16 November 2018 to mark Digital Manufacturing Week, including a Smart Factory Expo exhibition.

Billed as ‘a national festival of advanced manufacturing’, the week-long event organised by The Manufacturer brought together around 6,000 proprietors, practitioners and industry players from across the country.

For the Manufacturers' Leaders Summit, there were plenary sessions on a range of far-reaching topics from the planned Government-backed North West pilot for the Made Smarter review and getting real ROI from a digital factory to the art of the possible when digitising an operation.

This year's Smart Factory Expo featured six distinct Visitor Zones that enabled visitors to engage with world-class exhibitors and innovative start-ups while also taking part in experience-sharing sessions with some of the most exciting names in UK manufacturing.

In this video, we spoke to exhibitors and attendees about why employing sustainable processes and good environmental practices is something that manufacturers should be focusing on.
