Kenneth G L Simpson M. Phil F.I.E.T. Has spent ten years designing automatic flight control systems, and for the last twenty five years has been involved in the design and supply of Control and Safety systems for the process industry. Has been involved in projects for clients world wide, particularly in Europe, Middle East and America’sHe has published many articles concerning high integrity systems and is joint author of the book ‘Functional Safety’. Participates actively in various professional institutions and government safety committees relating to programmable electronic safety systems, and is a member of the international committee for both IEC 61508 (Generic Functional Safety standard for electrical based safety systems) and IEC 61511 (process industry sector specific of IEC 61508) and is a committee member of IGAS E Programmable Safety System.
