This talk provides a snapshot of the state of the art of medical robots today. It demonstrates examples of surgical procedures where robots are being used to provide enhanced dexterity and accuracy whilst minimising collateral damage. The technology specific to surgical robots is described in overview, and some examples of the next generation of surgical robots, currently at the research level, are presented.
