The Department of Research & Enterprise (R&E) plays a vital role in the University of Glasgow, performing a wide range of research development, commercialisation and knowledge transfer functions. Six years after its formation, R&E is confident that the `Glasgow Model' has the correct balance of `Outcome' and `Outreach' related activities - and more importantly, has defined the underlying reasons for doing them. This session focuses on what the `third thing' means in Glasgow, with discussion of the key issues, the experience gained through the ERDF-funded Dialogues project, and the opportunities for the future.
