The Government's Energy White Paper - published in early 2003 - was a landmark in the development of renewable energy in the UK. It describes a future in which the sector provides a significant and increasing proportion of the electricity supply in this country. It moves renewables from the periphery to the mainstream. In doing so, it is part of exciting wider moves - in Europe and beyond - to cut the carbon emissions created by energy production.
