About the session

International Engineering Safety Management (iESM) is a new handbook (known as the Yellow Book) on engineering safety management for the international rail industry. iESM is about changing from reaction after an incident or accident to proactive action that seeks out and removes the causes of accidents before disaster can strike. This is best done early in project lifecycles where the costs of any change are minimal. iESM provides guidance - it is not legislation; as such, it supports the application of engineering safety management and can, if applied correctly, provide assurance to transportation companies throughout the world that their organization's consideration of engineering safety can reliably be demonstrated.
